Napier’s impressive college career at Furman established him as one of the top FCS quarterbacks of his era. During his time with the Paladins, he earned two-time All-Southern Conference honors while leading the program to significant achievements. His senior season showcased remarkable efficiency with a 64.8% completion rate and 2,475 passing yards.
The quarterback’s leadership helped guide Furman to the 2001 FCS national championship game. Additionally, Napier’s outstanding performance earned him recognition as a Walter Payton Award finalist in 2001, given annually to the top FCS player. His high school career also carried family significance, as he played under his father Bill Napier’s coaching.

Interestingly, Dan Mullen, another former Florida head coach, also appeared in ESPN’s rankings.
