Elite Talent Fits Louisville’s Defensive Vision
The Cardinals gain major defensive help with Busch’s tackling skills. He posted 59 tackles and 12 TFLs in his junior year. His downhill style matches Brohm’s aggressive scheme perfectly. According to Greg Smith of Rivals, “Busch brings a rare mix of instincts and physicality rarely seen in linebackers his age.”
Meanwhile, Ervin fills key O-line needs with his wingspan and power. Offensive line coach Mark Hagen led his recruitment, building a connection that helped Louisville beat out bigger programs for his commitment.
Building Championship Dreams Through Smart Recruiting
While Georgia and Florida State chased Ervin hard, Louisville won because of their development track record. This victory highlights the Cardinals’ new recruiting power under Brohm.
The class now features ten commits instead of nine. Earlier pledges from Merz and Ballart set a strong foundation. Consequently, 247Sports ranks Louisville’s 2026 class 2nd in the ACC and 9th nationally – the program’s best modern era numbers.
Four-star running back Kaydin Jones remains a top target after rushing for 1,476 yards last season. He plans to announce his decision in late summer.
