ROCK HILL, SC: The prestigious NBPA Top 100 Camp is making history this week as it hosts its first-ever event in South Carolina at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center through Friday, June 14. This annual basketball showcase has been a stepping stone for hundreds of NBA players over more than three decades.
Elite Competition at the NBPA Top 100 Camp
The camp pairs top high school basketball players with former NBA players who serve as coaches. Additionally, NBA referees officiate the games, providing an authentic professional atmosphere. Participants also receive valuable guidance on navigating Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) policies and recent NCAA decisions that impact their collegiate careers.
Why Rock Hill Landed the Premier Event
Rock Hill, known as “Football City USA,” was chosen for several strategic reasons. The Rock Hill Sports & Event Center can host up to nine simultaneous games, maximizing the camp’s efficiency. Furthermore, the venue’s proximity to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and adjacent hotel accommodations made it an ideal location.
Chris Jean, Vice President of Basketball Activation for the National Basketball Players Association, explained the decision: “Bringing it to South Carolina, it just kind of fit everything we needed: space, city people. Everyone is friendly, and it made for a great partnership with the city of Rock Hill.”
Future Prospects for South Carolina Basketball
While no official announcement has been made regarding future locations, Jean expressed optimism about returning to Rock Hill. “We’re trying to be intentional about pouring into Rock Hill. Being as good to them as they are to us,” he noted.
The camp represents a significant opportunity for high school players to showcase their talents in front of NBA personnel and former professionals. Moreover, the event highlights South Carolina’s growing presence in elite basketball circles.
