According to Saturday Down South, Tennessee landed 4-star offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo less than 24 hours after their 33-27 loss to Oklahoma—boosting Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting efforts to No. 15 nationally in the 2027 class. The Murfreesboro native ranks No. 109 nationally and No. 11 at his position, becoming the Vols’ third commitment in their early 2027 recruiting cycle.

In-State Four-Star Recruit Strengthens Offensive Line Pipeline

Uwaifo’s commitment from Siegel High School continues Tennessee’s emphasis on securing elite in-state talent along the offensive line. The program previously landed David Sanders Jr. in 2025, Gabriel Osenda in 2026, and Kamari Blair in 2026, establishing a strong pipeline in the trenches. Uwaifo also holds the distinction of being Tennessee’s highest-rated 2027 commit, surpassing 3-star linebacker JP Peace and 3-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield who joined the class in June and October respectively.

“I am very excited to announce my commitment to The University of Tennessee!🟠🟠🟠🟠 GBO🍊” Uwaifo announced on social media.

Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting Class Rankings Show Upward Trajectory

The commitment elevated Tennessee’s 2027 class ranking significantly, joining their recent recruiting success across multiple cycles. Josh Heupel’s program currently sits at No. 8 in the 2026 class and finished No. 11 in 2025 according to 247Sports. Tennessee Vols Recruiting News continues to focus on elite skill position targets, with 5-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman from Brentwood representing their top remaining priority in the 2027 cycle.

Strategic Timing After Oklahoma Loss

Uwaifo’s decision came despite Tennessee’s disappointing 33-27 loss to Oklahoma that effectively ended their playoff hopes at 7-3 overall. The timing suggests the Four-Star Recruit remained confident in the program’s direction under Heupel, who led the Vols to a playoff appearance in 2024. His previous visit to Tennessee occurred during their September 13 game against Georgia, providing him firsthand exposure to the program’s high-level competition in SEC play.

Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting now holds three commits in their 2027 class with continued pursuit of elite skill position talent to complement their offensive line additions. For more coverage of the Vols and related Tennessee Vols Recruiting News updates, visit Prospect-Radar.com.
