LUBBOCK, TX: Texas Tech football recruiting is heating up as the Red Raiders host several elite 2026 prospects for official visits this weekend. Coach Joey McGuire’s staff is making an aggressive push to elevate their standing in the Big 12 recruiting battles.
Leading the impressive visitor list is five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo from Mansfield Lake Ridge, the nation’s No. 11 overall prospect per Rivals. The 6’7″, 279-pound lineman has already visited Texas, Florida, and Ohio State, with the Longhorns reportedly leading his recruitment. Ojo’s trip to Lubbock comes before his upcoming officials to Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, and Oklahoma.
Elite Defensive Targets Visiting Campus
Four-star edge rusher Jamarion Carlton (No. 46 nationally) from Temple, Texas will also be on campus.
The 6’5″, 240-pound defensive standout, who has former teammates on the Texas Tech roster, shifted his planned Arizona State visit to make the trip to Lubbock instead. He’s currently considering Baylor, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC.
Four-star safety Donovan Webb from Frisco Panther Creek makes his second visit to Texas Tech this month. The Rivals250 defensive back (No. 178 nationally) has already toured Colorado, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, and LSU this spring. First-year safeties coach Rob Greene has made a strong impression on Webb and his family, putting the Red Raiders in a favorable position alongside LSU, Oklahoma, and TCU.
Building Recruiting Momentum
These high-profile visits continue Texas Tech’s recruiting momentum under McGuire, who has been active in both the transfer portal and high school recruiting. The Red Raiders’ ability to get elite prospects like Ojo on campus represents progress in their effort to compete with traditional powers for top 2026 recruits.
