Nashville, TN โ€“ Former Florida wide receiver Chimere Dike impresses early with the Tennessee Titans. The team drafted him in the fourth round to help rookie quarterback Cam Ward, according to our previous coverage of the team’s receiver additions.

Draft Strategy Pays Off

The Titans added both Dike and fellow fourth-rounder Elic Ayomanor to bolster their receiving corps. They also signed Ward’s former Miami teammate Xavier Restrepo as an undrafted free agent.

Minicamp Performance

Dike showed well in open practices during the Titans’ recent minicamp. He hauled in seven catches alongside Ayomanor. Team reporter Jim Wyatt came away impressed with the rookie receivers. He noted their potential impact for the upcoming season.

ย

“I think Ayomanor and Dike are going to help the team this fall,” Wyatt wrote after observing the practices. “I’m not ruling out Restrepo being in the mix in some fashion either, whether it’s WR6 or WR7, or starting out on the practice squad.”

Competition Heats Up

Restrepo led all receivers with 11 catches during the open sessions. He benefits from his established chemistry with Ward from their time at Miami. However, Dike and Ayomanor appear well-positioned to compete for significant roles.

ย

The roster currently holds 13 receivers. Roughly half will make the final cut. The competition will be fierce heading into training camp.

ย

Looking Ahead

Multiple rookie receivers create an interesting dynamic for Tennessee. Drafting two players at the same position in the same round can be tricky. The Titans bank on that competition bringing out the best in both Dike and Ayomanor.

ย

Reports suggest a good chance that at least one of the fourth-round picks could find themselves in the starting lineup. Both rookies may see starting time at some point this season.

ย

For Gator fans following Dike’s professional journey, the early signs from Nashville look promising. The former team captain appears positioned to make a meaningful contribution in his rookie campaign.
